About Us

Choosing the best building consultant for your needs is extremely important, as the quality of building inspection reports and the relevant qualifications and experience of the building consultant can often be the difference between achieving a satisfactory solution to your building issue or becoming involved in a frustrating and potentially costly dispute.

GM Building Consultants managing director is Mr Greg Matthews. Greg personally performs all inspections and provides expert opinion on behalf of the business.

Knowledge

Greg holds a Graduate Diploma in Fire Safety Engineering, a Bachelor Degree in Construction Management and Economics, is licenced as an Open Builder, Fire Safety Professional - Fire Certifier and Completed Residential Building Inspector.

In addition, he holds a CASA Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) a Certificate IV in Government (Investigation), is a trained Mediator and Pool Safety Inspector.

Experience

Greg has 30 years construction industry experience across the residential, commercial and retail sectors, from hands on construction roles, to project management and managing director of his own retail fitout and construction companies.

He has held a number of technical roles with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission, including most recently as the Director of Technical Services, overseeing the QBCC's administration of QLD's construction legislation in relation to Building Certifier conduct and construction quality, and providing technical input and advice in relation to complex and major matters.

He has exceptional knowledge in the application and interpretation of the National Construction Code (NCC), and the full suite of construction related Australian Standards.

Greg specialises in technical building inspections and reports. He provides expert statements and advice, and has appeared numerous times as an independent expert in legal proceedings.
